Seven Rays of the Healing Millennium
Published in Paperback by Inner Light Publications (01 December, 1998)
Author: Diane Tessman
Average review score:

Diane Tessman Is One of the Premier Authors of the New Age
Diane Tessman has done it again! Seven Rays of the Healing Millennium is the most gripping book I have read this year. In this work, which was the gift offered Diane by the voices of space intelligence, there are many pressing issues taken to task. There are fascinating chapters on the true meaning of the Crystal Cross. Seven Rays of the Healing Millennium contains channeled information from a collection of alien and Angelic Beings from the future, as well as sprites, fairies, and Inner Earth Dwellers. Diane's Guardian, TIBUS gives some shocking revelations in a chapter intitled: To Clone Or Not To Clone. There is a channeling from Sasquatch. We enter the loving vibration of Diana Luminatis, who many feel is the ascended soul of Princess Diana, who was a true Star Person. Some of the alien channelings include lifelike images of the Ascended Masters. There is a warning from the Volcano Goddess, much regarding governmental conspiracy/UFO cover-ups, the coming polar shift, nuclear terrorism, the threat of artificial intelligence & the HAARP project & the reality of the end of the Human species due to low sperm count. Diane Tessman is regarded by many as one of the few honest and truly gifted psychics of the New Age movement. She has offered us every word of this unique masterpiece with love and light. Literally "worlds above" most authors of the genre-- Seven Rays of the Healing Millennium by Diane Tessman is a signature work.

Essential reading as "New Age" becomes "New Millenium,"
"Essential reading for the New Millenium! This book is particularly well written and organized in an easy-to-absorb manner. The material blends with the experience of the reader. For one in search of a path to the New Millenium, this book is the trailhead. For one in search of meaning, this is the dictionary. The concepts put forth herein will become commonplace in the New Millenium, as we progress further along into the New Age" --Barry Hood Executive Producer, Televideos

Sharks, Skates, and Rays: The Biology of Elasmobranch Fishes
Published in Hardcover by Johns Hopkins Univ Pr (June, 1999)
Author: William C. Hamlett
Average review score:

If you want a book on shark biology, this is the one
If you are a shark enthusiast, or a student in the biological sciences, this is an excellent book to own. The technical writings are excellent and you would not be able to find them elsewhere, unless your library carries elsamobranch periodicals.

The technical writing is probably too much for the casual shark buff or even first year undergrads, and this is not meant as an introduction to the world of sharks.

If you want to learn the "inner workings of sharks" and don't mind the price, this is a good reference book to own.

Excellent, THE most comprehensive shark bio book I've seen.
Every elasmophile should have this in their library! It's incomparable to anything else out there. Truly an excellent work.

Sigil v. 1: Mark of Power
Published in Paperback by CrossGeneration Comics (01 January, 2002)
Authors: Barbara Kesel, Ben Lai, and Ray Lai
Average review score:

Science fiction at its best
Barbara Kesel weaves an intricate tale of mysticism and wonder as she reveals the adventure of Sam and and his friends. The story tells of a burnt out ex-solider and "Sam" his friend Roiya as the look to earn money after being realesed from the military. No sooner dose Sam get used to the quiet life that he recieves a Sigil( as is the theme with Crossgen Comics) and releases a powerful blast that levels a city. Trouble ensues as Sam, Roiya and his new found companions Jemirk and Zanni are hunted by the Saurins, a race of man-like lizards, the Human military, and a member of The First. The best part is when Sam takes part in a gladiator battle with a handfull of Raptor-esque creatures. This book is a must have for any comic reader or sci-fi lover.

A great premise for a sci-fi adventure book
Barbara Kesel has a tremendous ability to craft characters in an action-adventure story. Sigil has a truly original and compelling premise and lots of excitement.

Anfd the greater mystery will keep you coming back. Mark Waid's sequel to this book is equally fantastic.

Great bedtime story book

Small Business: An Entrepreneur's Plan
Published in Paperback by International Thomson Publishing (November, 1997)
Authors: J.D. Ryan, Lee A. Eckert, and Robert J. Ray
Average review score:

Don't start a business without it
A step by step process leading you to a fail-safe busines

Outstanding start-your-own business book.
In the large world of how-to-do business books, this one stands out. It is logical, uses real-life, fund-limited examples, and provides both a detailed as well as a quick-start guide to beginning your own business.

It is oriented to the small start-up sector, which is always idea rich but fund limited. It includes strategies for breaking through roadblocks, finding financing and partners, and making a clear presentation of your business strategy to outsiders.

Highly recommended.

Smoked Beers
Published in Paperback by Brewers Publications (15 May, 2001)
Authors: Ray Daniels, Geoffrey Larson, and Geoff Larson
Average review score:

Smokey The Beer
Unlike most of the books of the "Classic Beer Styles" series, Daniels and Larson don't go into the details of how to brew beer. This is fortunate because there are a myriad of other books that cover that topic and the actual brewing process isn't different from most beers. Instead, they cover in depth what imparts these flavors into beer - the malt. They also detail a history of smoke in beers and introduce an intriguing concept; many beers at one time tasted of smoke because of methods used to dry the malt. Today it is definitely a specialty but from Alaska to Germany to Japan, I was surprised to find out how many different types of smoked beers are produced. I was also surprised to find out how relatively simple it is to do it for yourself.

Like in his previous works, Daniels consistently cites sources so you know you are reading fact, not fiction. Larsen's experiences both at his brewery and while traveling demonstrate his passion for his subject. This has translated into a book the truly captures all aspects of smoked beers in a very entertaining package. Read this book and if you don't feel inclined to begin smoking your own malt you'll at least want to jump on a plane to Bamberg, Germany and try some genuine smoked beers for yourself.

Smoke Supreme!
I've always enjoyed smoke-flavored beers, but during the writing of this book I found that the range of flavors and smoke-intensities was even broader than I had imagined. In the modern home of smoked beers -- Bamberg, Germany -- we found pilseners and weizens with a hint of smoke along with marzens and bocks with enough smoke to cure a sausage! In addition to detailing the many smoked specialty beers of Germany, we also cover the vast range of smoked beers now made in America.

Whatever your taste for smoke, we've written this book so that you can make a beer that perfectly satisfies your mood. Along the way, we review subjects like the history of smoke in beer and the chemistry of fire and smoke. In the end though, it comes down to practical realities: simple smoking methods for malt and recipes for all levels of brewers who want to make great smoked beers -- from either home- or commercially-smoked malts.

Whether you are a casual brewer with a taste for smoke or just a casual beer traveler looking for new flavors to explore, "Smoked Beers" will add new entries to your beer diary.

Soft X-Rays and Extreme Ultraviolet Radiation : Principles and Applications
Published in Hardcover by Cambridge University Press (September, 1999)
Author: David Attwood
Average review score:

good book
i found this book to be an excellent educational material on soft x-ray science

p.s. please note that there is a web-site by the author with the actual lectures available for watching absolutely free

A very good textbook
I took the class taught by the author at UC-Berkeley while he was finishing up this text (I also proofread a couple of the chapters as part of the class - you can find my name and the names of my classmates in the acknowledgements).

The text is very clearly written. An undergraduate physics / engineering level of understanding of electromagnetics and quantum mechanics is sufficient background for most the textbook. Most of the calculations are done semi-classically which helps for people not well versed in quantum mechanics. It also serves nicely as a reference text.

Topics covered include:
- Grazing incidence optics
- Normal incidence multi-layer mirrors
- Synchrotron radiation
- Cyclotrons, wigglers and undulators
- Plasma physics with applications to EUV and X-ray sources
- Fresnel zone plates
- Coherence
- EUV and X-ray lithograpy
- ...

The textbook stands alone nicely ... you do not need to constantly look up results in other sources and texts.

The textbook also contains a wealth of reference materials (several appendices of atomic data for X-ray transitions, cross sections, mathematical tables, ...)

Something About a Soldier
Published in Hardcover by Random House (May, 1986)
Author: Charles Ray Willeford
Average review score:

Young Soldier in the pre-WW II Army
This a great book for anyone who wants to know what life in the pre-WW II US Army was like. This would be a shorter and more realistic companion piece to James Jones "From Here to Eternity". The stories of the Disappointed Bride and Life in the Fading Days of the Cavalry are priceless.

This is the best book that I have ever read.
Funny, interesting, informative. The stuff nobody else writes about. The best of the best.

Something Rotten (Strange Matter)
Published in Audio Cassette by Brilliance Audio (October, 1997)
Authors: Marty M. Engle and Johnny Ray Barnes
Average review score:

EXCELLENT!
This was a great Strange Matter book! In it, a kid takes home some rocks he shouldn't have, and these blobs come out. It's really good. Does anyone know how I could contact the authors of this book so it can be back in print? E-mail me at mstone32@yahoo.com if you think you know.

I really liked this book. The series is great.
It is a very good book. Only one other series out of all thee others is Mindwarp. I've read Goosebumps and other stuff like that, but these are the best! I have read 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, and 27. There are good because they stick to the same town, somtimes the same characters unlike Goosebumps. I think the series is very good. Scary and funny at the same time. Hopefully I'l read more. So long folks. By Jared
